Last week, we had a chance to talk with Hariharan S (Founder of Headhunter India), and we asked him a few questions: 

First of all, how are you? We hope that you and your family have stayed healthy during this pandemic.

Everyone is doing fine at home. We have traveled extensively for eight days and back home a few days ago. Again, We are safe.

How’s India at the moment, or how has it been the last 7 – 8 months? 

Initial months were clueless considering Lockdown. Currently, things are moving again. There is a lot of delay in the decision-making process. 

And what about Business and the general atmosphere? How are the companies holding up, have there been a lot of layoffs?  

We have positions to work on. New avenues are being opened up. i.e., few of my clients are diverting the product line to the service business. I see Job loss too. Many senior & Mid-level guys have been told to go (retrenched) by well-reputed Global companies. Layoffs created issues for many people. 

How do you see the end of 2020? And what about 2021?

It’s the holiday season again from the 3rd week of December. There may be some lag in the Business. The coming year 2021 may be a good year for everyone. It will open up new avenues. Our clients are interested in recruiting “International Business Managers” (Export Business).

What do you think about the future? What will be the most significant difference in India if you compare the situation before the pandemic and the possible situation after?

We see a bright future as far as India is concerned. Our Government is providing lots of concession, thurst, and priority to “Make in India” products in this situation. It gives way for a boost in local production and also for FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) in different sectors. 

What kind of roles do you think companies are going to need the most after the pandemic? Do you think there’s some big difference before and after COVID regarding recruitment and headhunting?

Companies need to generate more Business. Most of my clients are recruiting in Sales & Marketing, Business Head, and HR functions. Excellent Business Opportunity is there when we collaborate with other Country Partners. It’sIt’s the time for us to capitalize on the atmosphere and situation. 

What tips would you have for foreign job seekers who would like to come and work in India?

Considering the current scenario, It’sIt’s advisable to wait and watch the forthcoming post covid period in India.
